Work done during the Revista Baiacu Comics Residency period.
Curated by the renowned Brazilian cartoonists Laerte and Angeli, "Baiacu" gathered 15 artists and is the first printed result of a project that sprouted from Hilda Hilst Institute, a house where lived the writer Hilda Hilst (1930-2004) and now holds periodic artistic residencies.
This is one of the most memorable projects I’ve had the honour to be invited to so far. As the youngest artist, I had the opportunity to learn a lot from other cartoonists, but also be heard. It was an experience that something that changed the way I perceive comics-making and drawing.
The residency lasted three very frantic weeks and a selection of the material produced during that time was published into a book, called Revista Baiacu.
Amongst the selected artists, there were Power Paola, Laura Lannes, Ilan Manouach, Fabio Zimbres, Pedro Franz, and many others.
